424 FIFTH

I just had to share this amazing line, 424 FIFTH LORD & TAYLOR, the the Hudson's Bay has recently brought in.  It's got some to die for pieces that fall perfectly in line with this season's trends.  Some of my fave's include the head to toe plaid, the perfect chambray button down, and a beautiful floral long skirt.
I'll definitely be making a purchase!

summer photobook

I thought I'd share a few moments from our summer.  We attended my friend Ashly's beautiful wedding in Victoria.  It was at the Sea Cider Farm and the setting was breath taking.  Fresh flowers, surrounded by forest, and stunning views to water and mountains.  Congrats you two!
We also took a day trip to White Rock.  It's such a pretty beach with so much sand, but the downside would be that dogs aren't allowed to be on the boardwalk.  That meant that we had to cut our day a bit short, because walking along the boardwalk is one of the big things to do there.
So, we had ice cream instead.
Visiting the house I grew up in for the last time, good ol' Melville Cres.  Isn't she a beaut?!
And lastly, as many trips to the dog beach as possible, Kea's favourite place.

heat wave

dress: Target
boots & belt: American Eagle
bag: Miz Mooz
necklace: Gifted

We seem to be experiencing a bit of a heat wave here in Vancouver, and all I want to do is start wearing my fall clothing! So, to make a compromise with mother nature, I went for this daytime summer dress, but mixed it with brown leather accessories.  I was still very hot.
A funny thing about this dress, when Target first opened in BC, it was nearly sold out in days (the influence of these ladies probably helped). And with my first trip to the store, I did try this dress on, but opted to pass, only because my 'yes' pile in the fitting room was too big.  But, when I was home a few weeks ago, in Ontario, this same dress was on the clearance rack for $8.99!! with a very full arrangement of sizes!! Just my luck!
It's crazy how different the demographics are between the west and east coasts.

Update: the weather has turned.... and now I want to wear shorts.

the last time

sorry for the blurry photos, they were taken on my iphone.

These thoughts are a little bit jumbled.  Bare with me.

Last month I had a week vacation, and spent it back home in Brampton, Ontario.  I was visiting my Mom and helping out any way I could to get our family home ready to be put up for sale.
I gardened, packed boxes, cleaned, took shelves off the walls, lifted things, carried things, all while trying to soak in my last moments there.
I grew up only ever living in one house, which is rare these days, but over the years it's acted more like a meeting place where we can all reconvene.   And luckily my oldest sister was able to fly out and meet up with my Mom, middle sister, and I, for one last hurrah.  I really do have the best family.
I have so many memories there and will never forget the wall paper we used to have in the kitchen, or the Christmas tree lighting up the big window in the living room, or playing dress up in backyard with the neighbors kids.
It may sound strange, but I hope the buyers are a young family looking for a great place to raise their kids and join the community.
The photos on the right are being in my (nearly empty) bedroom for the last time, and looking out my bedroom window to the big maple tree in the front yard.  And the photo with the four of us together is right before leaving for the airport to head back to Vancouver, aka. right before I started crying.
I'm never going to be there again. And that makes me sad.

end of summer

Now that September is under way, I've been thinking about my summer to do list and how many things I got checked off.  I have to admit, I didn't get to everything, but there's still time.
The Bf and I never made it paddle boarding, even with an online deal.  I still really want to try it someday.
And we haven't made it to the Food Truck Festival, but it goes for another three weeks, so I'm making the time to go this weekend.
Other than that, it's a big ol' check mark!
